Hersey Farm
1776-2026
Hersey Farm was founded in 1776, so to celebrate 250 years, Peter Hersey, current owner of the farm, hosted a Veterans Luncheon and tour of his property. The event began with a musket shot fired by the Hingham Militia, marking both the 250th anniversary of Hersey Farm, but also of the United States itself. Once gathered under the tent, the Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Scott McMillan.
Then Peter Hersey, owner, & Peter Bickford, Master Restoration Carpenter, spoke about the history of the property and the Hersey Family as Veterans and their families enjoyed lunch. We were then invited to tour the grounds, including the Rueben Hersey Toy & Box Manufacturer shop, the last surviving pre-industrial toy and box shop in the United States.
