June 2019
I was browsing my favorite travel deal sites looking for flights to Croatia, when I came across a safari in Kenya that included more and cost less. Eastern Europe could wait, while I go back to East Africa. I had been on a safari in Tanzania with a group of friends years prior and it was an incredible experience. But, I needed a travel buddy, because I didn't want to pay a single supplement to stay in a double-occupancy tent alone. So I texted a handful of friends, did anyone want to go on safari to Kenya? We had book by tomorrow to get the discount. I just needed one person to agree to my impulsive idea. To my surprise, the next day all 5 people I asked said yes. I quickly realized we could have a whole safari to ourselves if we ask more friends and family to join us. I hopped on the phone to the company operating the tour, and with their help I was able to get us moved to a private date. A week later, 14 of us were scheduled for our safari. But if we're flying all the way to Africa, why go for just a week? We might as well make the most of our jet-lag. I rearranged our flights, booked more hotel nights in Nairobi and scheduled day trips, for a total of 10 days.
