Just a quick 4 hour flight from Boston is the Portuguese archipelago, the Açores Islands. And January, while not snowy, is still the winter, so accommodations in the off season were very affordable. We stayed in the capital city and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Angra do Heroismo, and rented a car to travel around. Somehow, amongst the 4 of us, I was the only one who was old enough, and capable of driving a stick shift. It was a fun week!
